Indonesia is a market with huge export potential, but when exporting goods to the country, a series of documentation requirements must be followed. This article introduces Indonesias latest documentation requirements and provides suggestions to ensure smooth export delivery.
When exporting to Indonesia, the following are some important documentation requirements:
(1) Company information: The bill of lading must include the complete company name and address of the consignee, shipper, and notify party. If the consignee and notify party are local Indonesian companies, a 15-digit Tax Registration Number (TAX ID/NPWP/TIN#) must also be provided after the company information.
(2) Consignee as an individual: If the consignee is an individual and the notify party is a non-local Indonesian company, the consignee must provide a passport number.
(3) Goods for Belawan Port: For goods shipped to Belawan Port, the consignees company name must be displayed within the first 30 characters of the first line to avoid incomplete declarations. If the consignee is To Order, the notify party must provide information as per the above requirements.
(4) Goods for Batam Port: For goods shipped to Batam Port, if the consignee is a direct customer, it must be a local Batam company. If the consignee is To Order, the notify party must provide information as per the above requirements. Additionally, ensure that the packing list and commercial invoice are uploaded to the MOCs corresponding bill of lading Shipment folder.
(5) Special cargo restrictions: Unless the consignee provides a Batam import license, the following goods are not accepted for shipment: automobiles/vehicles, steel plates, rubber, sand, and tobacco.
(6) Cargo description and marks: The cargo description and marks must not display As per attached list, See Attachment, or As per attached.,
(7) HS CODE: All goods shipped to Indonesia must provide a 4-digit HS CODE. For mixed cargo involving different HS CODEs, provide cargo information separately according to each HS CODE to avoid incomplete declarations.
Complying with these documentation requirements is crucial for successful export delivery. By providing accurate company information, following special cargo restrictions, and providing correct HS CODEs, you can ensure your export goods pass Indonesian customs inspections and approvals smoothly.
When handling exports to Indonesia, it is recommended to work with experienced trade agents. They will be familiar with local documentation requirements and can help prepare the necessary documents and materials to ensure your export delivery is completed smoothly.
